Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic, and results-driven Director of Room Sales to lead and grow group room revenue and corporate negotiated accounts for the Hacienda Hotel. This role is dedicated exclusively to Rooms Division revenue and does not oversee catering or banquet sales.Through strategic prospecting, account management, and business development, this leader will drive revenue performance, build strong client relationships, and position the Hacienda as a top choice for group and corporate travelers in the San Diego market.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development (Primary Focus)
Drive group room revenue and overall rooms performance
Develop and grow corporate negotiated (LNR) accounts
Identify, solicit, and close new group and corporate business opportunities
Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and local demand generators
Conduct outside sales calls, networking, and market outreach
Perform site tours and present the property's unique value
Strategy & Revenue Focus
Understand need dates and market demand to target the right business
Utilize data and displacement analysis to maximize room revenue
Partner with General Manager and Revenue Management on pricing strategy
Track performance against goals and adjust strategy as needed
Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates
Execution & Coordination
Manage group bookings from inquiry through room block execution
Negotiate contracts and ensure alignment with company and brand standards
Maintain accurate records in CRM systems (STS)
Ensure all contracts, proposals, and documentation are completed accurately and timely
Coordinate with Front Desk and Operations to deliver on guest expectations and group needs
Collaboration & Leadership
Work closely with hotel leadership and operational teams
Partner with the Events/Catering team for seamless coordination (no direct ownership)
Participate in the development and execution of the hotel's sales strategy
Represent the hotel in the local market, industry events, and networking opportunities
Qualifications:
3+ years of hotel sales experience (group and/or corporate preferred)
Proven ability to drive revenue through proactive sales efforts
Strong background in business development and prospecting ("seeker" mentality)
Experience working with CRM systems such as STS, Delphi, or similar
Familiarity with major hotel brand systems (Hilton, Marriott, Visual Matrix, etc.) preferred
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Organized, detail-oriented, and disciplined in managing sales activity
Ability to work independently and take ownership of results
Knowledge of the San Diego market is a strong plus
